Ranger Canopy, need help deciding!

i have an 08 ranger standard cab, and i was thinking about getting a canopy for it. i saw a ranger just like mine with an A.R.E. and i thought it looked clean. i belive it was the "Z" series but im not sure. also the leer ones looked pretty slick also. i was wondering if any of you guys have some pictures of regular cabs with a canopy. i would love some opinions. thanks guys

I've got an A.R.E. on mine. I'll take some pics and post them tomorrow for you. I like mine.

Rob / SVT01RANGER has posted a thread talking of his tear drop. Check his threads he's posted.

Brendan....I don't have a canopy. I'm an aspiring canopy wanter though. lol. The blue truck I posted pics of, I want that exact canopy but with the side opening windows but w/ sliders. Redneckstone has my exact canopy on his truck. Best bet is to check the manufacturer's websites for info. Leer has like 6 different canopy models and they all have different options/shapes/features. Used is the way to go considering you can get a good canopy for as little as $100 and new they're like $1100. lol.

Zach / Redneckstone's canopy aka I WANT. lol.

Here are some pictures. As you can see, mine has the double handles. While it's not quite as handy to open as a single handle, there is really less to wear out (no rods and pins) and it's a lot more secure than a single.

As to cost, I am the second owner, but the original buyer paid $1250 installed (lights wired, foam around the perimeter, and four clamps). That was in 2007 though, so it's probably higher now. He used it on a work truck, so he was in and out of it daily. Other than a couple of holes in the screens, it's like new. I gave $400 for it used.

Good luck in your search.

Russ

I have an ARE. I see lots of trucks with them. I don't think it's particularly good looking, not that camper shells ever are. The Leer ones are MUCH cleaner and fit much nicer. The back is also styled a little nicer. If you're buying new and have the money, go with Leer. I could only afford the first used one I came across. I eventually got it painted.
