If I were to go to a junk yard and find a 2002-2009 Ford Ranger FX4, would I be able to take the skid plates off and put them on a second gen Ranger?

I was looking at the price of skid plates online and I figured it may be cheaper to just find a junked FX4 and take parts off of it.

I don't know the answer to your question but I can tell you that there are different skid plates on the FX4s. The 02 FX4 and later FX4 Level II have stronger skid plates than the 03 and up FX4 Off-Road. I would not call either of them heavy duty but mine have worked very well for me.
