Ranger Got a Boo-Boo :(

So on Tuesday at a little after 5, a lady decided to rear end me. I was at a dead stop and she plowed into the back of me. She was goin about 40 in a 30 I think. I heard her lock her brakes up behind me and looked in my rear view then bamm. It was raining so that didn't help. The pictures show the damage. I had my girlfriend with me but luckily we both had our seatbelts on. We both bumped our heads kinda hard. My head hit the plastic coat hanger and broke it. Have a nice bump on the back of my head. Oh and what makes this great, SHE HAS NO INSURANCE. So glad that I pay my insurance for my vehicle that way when its someone else's fault, I get to pay for it.

Ended up pushing my bumper into my bed. Bent it up a little. Bent the hell out of the hitch. Bent the frame some. When the lady hit me, she pushed my into a jetta infront of me which broke my valance so I need a new one of those. Gonna get it looked at Thursday to see how much damage in $ there is.

Anyway, on with the pics.

Ya, I wasn't to happy today when my dad and I called her insurance and they said her policy was cancelled last August. We tried calling her parents a couple times and they didn't answer. Last time we tried they had taken their phone of the hook I think. I'm not to worried though. Small claims court will help me get my money back and her license will be suspended since she doesn't have any insurance.

you guys have such cheap insurance down there too!

here, it's a 2850$ fine for first time caught with no insurance 10,000$ fine second time, or you can stay in jail to pay it off, 50$ a day

Atleast she didn't take off! Last time I got hit, the SOB took off and I chased his *** while dialing 911. If you can't afford insurance you can't afford to drive. Some people never learn. Good luck!

let me give you some advise on small claims on a thing like this... get there adress and drive by, if it looks like a decent place go for it... if it looks like a dump and they have nothing... dont waste your time... you may win but you probly wont get anything scince they have nothing.... i dont say it blindly.... my dad is a lawyer and told my bestfriend the exact same thing.

any how im impress how well your truck faired for a 40mph **** assault....my buddies xj was thrashed....like gnarly bad.... and by and uninsured motorist, cops told him he was basically screwed.........=

glad your ok too man

I kno the feeling front being rearended at a dad stop and the other is at like 40 cuz that to me and my dad in our escape 5 speed. Almost totaled it. And she was in a safari full size van, our rear bumper ended up on her hood in the windshield. Let's thank god for seat belts

Like 5 minutes before it happened I had this feeling to put my seat belt on. For the most part I always wear it. Glad I had it on or I would have had one heck of a headache from hitting the steering wheel.

I got her address her at college and think I have her parents address at home. She was definitely white trashy. She was 8 months pregnant and the cop forced her to go to the hospital to get it checked out. I have the feeling she has no insurance of any kind. We will see what happens. I'm gonna call her again today to see whats up and go see about getting a police report. She admitted on the phone that it was her fault so at least she is taking fault.

Also thank god for my hitch and body lift. If the truck was stock, she would have creamed the back end but instead she just ruined the hitch. I cant believe the hitch stayed on.

im surprised your insurance company isnt stepping up and repairing your truck. i only have liability on my truck and i know if i get hit by someone with out insurance my insurance company will pay for my truck. then they go after who ever hit me for the money. then again frame repair adds up quick.

My insurance will pay but I want to go through her insurance that way I don't have to pay my deductible. I just think she should be the one to pay for it and not my insurance.

^^^ your insurance will have to pay then they can go after her for it. they have a better chance of getting the money then you do.

i don't knwo if it's the same down there... you can buy underinsured motorist protection insurance, up here, so if something like that happens, your insurance takes the fall completely, no deductable, and they go after the at-fault driver for the money, if they don't recover it, it comes out of the insurance's pocket

We will see what happens. I got to get an estimate and then figure out what my insurance wants to do from there. I think I may have uninsured motorist coverage. I will have to check.

Talked to a cop when I was at the police station today to get my police report. She is gonna at the minimum get a ticket and also probably get her license suspended.

Make sure you read your uninsured motorist coverage on your insurance. Im not familar with what your policy covers, but my uninsured and underinsured coverage only covers bodily injury, it does not cover physical damage to the vehicle. I have to carry collision and comprehensive to cover my vehicle damage if an unisured person hits me. It gets filed under my collision coverage and I have to pay the deductible, but if they recover any money, I get my deductible back.

Just a little heads up as insurance companies don't want to cover any more than they are contractually obligated to.

That totally sucks big time. In your state, are you required by law to carry minimum auto insurance like us in Mass?

Glad to hear you two came out "well". I hope you can get SOMETHING out of the girl for all of that trouble.
