Ranger is running weird
Ranger is running weird
I’ve got an 89 Ranger with a 2.3. I’ve been having trouble with a couple things went to drive it today and it started right up but idled a little weird and was kind of bogging and when I went to drive it it had a loss on power and I could tell something was wrong. Also I had just changed the oil right before that and it’s been running rich and have had a little bit of a lifter tick for awhile now. I’m not the best at diagnosing things. Anyone know what could be wrong?
Welcome to the forum
Not much to go on
Clean the MAF sensor, once a year
How old is the Timing Belt?
These need to be changed every 80-100k miles
O2 sensor also only last 12 years or 100k miles
There is a Fuel Pressure Regulator(FPR) on the engine
It has the Fuel Return hose and a Vacuum hose on it, check the vacuum hose for gasoline, if found replace FPR
All these can cause Rich running, loss of power and bogging
