Ranger's Future

I was just looking on Blue Oval News and apparently Ford plans to shut down the plant where the ranger is produced in 2009. Just thought you all would like to know that. Currently there are no definate plans for a replacement.

you can have TT 7.3 now if you want it

http://longislandperformancediesel.c...0-%20Turbo.htm

middle of page
Head-studs are required as this system will make over 50 LBS of Boost with only mild injectors

id like to see the redisgn happen but i will not buy one without a PSD

I disagree.. the death of the compact pickup saddens me. But anyway..

I was shooting my mouth off over at a Mazda3 forum to a guy that just traded his 3 for a new Nissan 2WD. He confessed that his brother works at a plant that makes F150's in Virginia. He said something about them being told that they were going to be building the 'Ranger replacement'. Basically suggesting to him that Ford had a new, probably mid-size replacement in the ranks ready for production as early as '08.. Although he has since posted saying instead they passed notice that the plant is instead closing in 18 months!

I dunno what that all means, but that's the hearsay I've heard..

I'd love a turbo desiel Ranger. My boss with Turbo back exaust, intake and a chip gets 18mpg towing 15-20k lbs from here to cali doing 75 te whole way. Usually he gets about 24mpg. I mean this is on a freakin 7.3L Excursion. My ranger gets about 16.2mpg if I keep my foot off it.

That's the one. Easily the most active mr google could find for me. It is tied to other C1 based car forums (Volvo S40, euro-spec Focus) and to other Mazda forums (like Mazda6 forums). Lots punk kids that want to drop it to the ground and slap 20" wheels on their 3, yo! But some decent info too if you read between the lines. I've been adicted to it lately. It even got me reading SCCA forums. I think I'll go observe the season opener for the SCCA North East Region Solo run in Mass later this month.. Very cool stuff!
