Rear Drum Size

Hello. New to the forum. Site came up in a search for Ranger brakes and I found this link. https://www.ranger-forums.com/drivet...-brakes-67503/ Excellent photos and information so thanks to the original poster. Anyway, I am preparing to put new shoes on my daughter's 09 Ranger 4X4. 4 litre, and in going to get the shoes, the parts guys asks if they are 10 or 9 inch (I believe that was the sizes) and I have no idea
what the drum size is. Would anybody know how to determine what size the drums are? Thanks for your help.

4x4 should be 10" drums. Taking the wheel off and measuring the drum is one way to tell. You can also look at the drum visually and see, 9 and 10inch drums look different, see post 4 here https://www.ranger-forums.com/drivet...m-size-135609/

I agree they should be 10 inch the drum should have stamped on the front "max diameter" for machining purposes.

I would also guess you have a 8.8 inch rear end as well.

Excellent. Thank you very much to you both, and for the link. Was surprised it had drum brakes instead of disks. Haven't done a shoe install for years and hope I can find my spring tool. This ought to be fun. Thanks again.
