Recall 2004 Rangers

I dont know if anyone has heard of this yet but i was looking around on alldata and ford tech service and came across this

Make / Models : Model/Build Years:

Ford / Ranger 2004

MANUFACTURER: Ford Motor Company

NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 04V331000 Recall Date : JUL 12, 2004

COMPONENT: Structure: Frame and Members: Underbody Shields

Potential Number Of Units Affected : 1395
SUMMARY:
On certain pickup trucks, the frame may have a center rail section flange that was not formed properly.

CONSEQUENCE:
In the event of a side impact crash, the frame rail could puncture the fuel tank, resulting in a fuel leak. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.

REMEDY:
Dealers will inspect the frame to determine whether the frame was incorrectly manufactured. If there is a problem, the vehicle will not be repaired. Ford and the dealer will replace the vehicle. The recall began on July 19, 2004. Owners should contact Ford at 1-800-392-3673.

NOTES:
Ford Recall NO. 04S19. Customers can also contact The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Auto Safety Hotline at 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

trouble is, the recall began 6 years ago. I doubt they would give someone with a 2004 ranger in 2010 a new vehicle because of this recall.

to add: My guess is that they would find another 2004 or older truck to replace the recalled 2004.
