Replacement fuel tank
Replacement fuel tank
I have a 2000 ranger xlt. Thieves drilled holes in tank. Per Ford, the tank has been discontinued and no other tank can be placed on it. I live in Hawaii and I cannot find another 2000 tank. There is a 2004 tank available. Slightly different shape but looks like pump is in same position. Would it be okay to use? Has anyone placed a differnt tank on their truck?
they aren't cheap, but
https://www.carid.com/2000-ford-rang...parentsubmodel=ENGINE|4.0L
They show different part numbers for the 2000 and the 2004. so my guess is the 2004 won't fit.
And I would call and talk to them before ordering just to make sure you get the right one.

The gas tank is plastic and can be repaired
Google: plastic welding gas tanks
You can DIY it or have a local company do it, its as good as new
Depending in the size of the holes or cracks you may be able to use an epoxy glue

Plastic weld
Thanks for the reply. I did the plastic weld and it didnt take. They put 1/2 inch holes x 3 , 2 at the bottom of the curved area and those are the ones that didnt take. I didnt think of a welder doing it though, I will look around.
