if you have lights mounted on it, what do you do about your tow hooks?

i have needed them once so far, but had to remove the light, which was a PITA.

what do you guys do?

or do you just not use your hooks?

Use the hitch receiver or frame on the rear instead??

I am considering buying a Westin bar,but did not realize it'll block the tow hooks with lights mounted. This is good to know. Those front hooks are rather handy.

well the time ive had to use em, the tow package on the back wasnt an option.

i think, what i might do, is drill some holes on the top of the bull bar, and mount my lights on the top, and leave the middle section clear of anything.

my only worry is that it might look a bit funny

im working on getting a custom front bumper made, that can hold a winch and everything, but thats going to set me back around 400 bucks, so that's lower on my list of things to do,

if i did that, then i would have no problem mounting lights, and having accessible tow hooks.

you could go with smaller lights like the skinny rectangular ones and stick them on the inside top part of the bull bar. that might help to make room for the hooks

How much are the bull bars? No offense to those that have them, but I dont see the reasoning in getting one other than to mount lights and looks (I do like the look of them), they really serve no purpose other than that IMO. I say that because the cost of a front hitch and a bull bar seem to be about the same.

I say sell it and get a front hitch, then get a cheap grill guard to mount the lights on or a pre runner type bar. Especially if you are going to need to use the front for recovery. It seems (from your threads) you like to go off-roading, thats why I am suggesting it.

well im saving up for a custom front bumper with a hitch in the front and a winch mount.

but for now, the bull bar is good.

it has saved my *** a few times out wheelin.

its actually pretty solid.

i've come down on the "skid" on the front of it, and instead of bashing my bumper pretty good, the bull bar takes all the abuse.
