Scangauge Problems

Well I picked up a Scangauge off a member here. It came monday and I got around to playing with it. On Wendsday I put it in the honda to play with it on the way to work. It worked as expected but would not power on when I restarted the car. Later that evening I installed it in the truck and it worked fine, I never had to restart the truck so I don't know if it would turn on automaticaly. I noticed yesterday that when I started the truck it came on. Later on I went to drive the truck and it didn't work. Sometimes when I turn the truck on it will start, sometimes the screen will light up but no data and sometimes it just does nothing. I have noticed that most of the time if I unplug and replug the cable it turns on, other times the screen lights up but no data, and sometimes nothing. I have two cables for it and it does it with both of them. I don't really want to have to send it to Scangauge to have them fix it but if I have to then I will. Thanks

I don't know what it could be, I never had any problems with it. I wonder if something could have happened to it during shipping? It sounds like its not getting good connection somewhere.

I hope you can get it figured out though man.

Mine won't power up on some vehicles, but doesn't act like that.

Mine has been on probably 6 or 7 different vehicles...and always shut off with the engine, and always turns back on when you turn the vehicle on.(or the key into 'run' position.

First thing you should have done, was to see if it'll turn back on while hooked up to your truck... That would eliminate the scangauge being the issue, and leans more towards the honda's OBD2 port...

It was doing it on both vehicles. Today it was working perfect. Powered on and off with the truck. I played with the wire a lil maybe I just wasn't pushing the wire in enough. We will just have to wait and see.

The plug that plugs into the diagnostic port....it goes in pretty far and does take a pretty decent tug to unplug it.

I was having problems the same problems with mine in my truck. I emailed scan gauge and they told me that its something that happens with random vehicles (no specifice year or model). I sent it into them and they installed a "component" and now it works perfectly for me.

If it keeps happening send them an email they will take care of you.

Thats the only thing I can think of right now that would cause it to do that.
