I see a little dribble on my floor mat on the drivers side. I lomes from under the dash, and the electrical plug on the clutch is wet. So, I checked the slave cylinder reservoir to find it almost empty. I refilled it of course, with the DOT 3 it calls for. Has anyone ever heard of this? Is it serious?

 

yes you losing clutch fluid is serious but i have never heard it leaking into the cab

 

I dont think the slave cylinder could leak upwards into the cab? If anything I would guess it being the master cylinder which is just above the clutch pedal and actually 1/2 way through the firewall itself. The slave cylinder is on top of the transmission underneath the cab.

 

Ahh, I stand corrected. Yes, the master cylinder is leaking. Any ideas on how much of a PITA it is to swap out and how expensive? OR, if I should even be concerned?

 

I just replaced my master cylinder not but a month ago. It isnt that hard of a process, and I believe it only cost me about $30-$40 from Advanced auto.

 

Did you go the route of removing the fenderwell for access?

 

Nope, I just worked in over the fenderwell. It is not hard to get to from just the side of the engine bay. The worst part is the work inside the cab up under the steering wheel.

 

in a ranger it wont be bad in a ford probe it sucks a$$.

 

It's an easy replacement.
