Smoking on cold startup
Smoking on cold startup
I have noticed a one second puff of white'ish smoke on cold startup over the last two days. The smoke dissapears after a second and the truck runs as normal...with no power issues. There is no smoke visable on warm startups. The oil level is normal as it was recently changed.
12k miles on an 05 Edge
My question is has there been any recalls due to this? Has anyone brought their truck back and had the problem corrected?

I'm with the others but i dunno about a cracked block at that young mileage. It is possible but i doubt it.
Blown head gasket, possibly. Could be faulty from the factory. Not saying that's what it is but a possibilty.
Only other thing i can think of is Ford and the other Big 3 use plastic for the intake manifold. Stupid move if you ask me. Maybe your getting some moisture in the engine then as soon as that combustion chamber gets hot, it burns off the moisture. The whitish smoke from your descriptions sounds nothing major for now anyway until you get it looked at. -Mike-

Nope, no standing water. the motor is stock down to the air filter.
the smoke has a blue'ish tint to it.
I just got the oil changed today so ...dunno if it will make a difference or not.
I'm going to start taking pics of the smoke to show to the service writer

This began happening last week just as it came up on 12k miles...time for oil change.
I had the oil changed and switched to the recommended weight ..only I put in synthetic. The smoking continues but there is less of it.
The oil level was full before the change.
