So I get a letter in the mail, local dealer wants to buy my truck!

So today, im bored, nothing to do, I go over there see what they have to offer me (my lease buy out is 11,100)

guy greets me, nice truck yadda yadda... so we go in, sit down shoot the ****, then comes the question, ya know, whatcha lookin for, so i said, ranger ,4 door ,4.0 xlt LS rear power everything and cruise, no money down... then he dispaears for 5 min, come back and says 'would u consider a f150... i said 'maybe' hes like well we got a red one lets take it for a drive, so we drive around and what not.... its a boat, plastic steeroing wheel, like my ranger better, tho rides nice... it gets better....

back to the dealer ship, i say, what u gonna gimme for my truck, hes like, well we will pay it off, and we can get u into that F150 for $339 a month lease with $2,000 down.... im like, so $400 a month with no money down to lease the boat... hes like, no put down 2K, and its $339... so im like, its still $400 a month, just cutting down the payment with the down payment which is stupid, $1000 on a lease = $30 off payment for lease, for a buy, its $15 off ur payment per $1000.. ok, so, im like, u got a calculator, and hes like no... so then, im doing this math in my head, and im like, u really expect me to pay the full sticker price on that F150?! what are u smopking? hes like ur not paying sticker, im like, 50% of 32K is 16K, minues 2% brings it down to ruffly 15K, divide that buy 39, comes out to 400, minues tax and interest.... dude was speachless. Im like for that kind of money, i can buy my ranger and itd be MINE. hes like, well at the end of ur lease, if you wanna stop back.... im like i might, so i get up to leave, and his phone rings... hes like hold on a secodn.... so i sit back down, he gets off the phone, he says, 'if we give you $11,500 for your truck today, the way its sitting right now, would u take it?' LOL, so now, the due just majorly insulted me, im thinking wtf, he think im stupid?! so i say. "you wanna gimme $400 for all the stuff on my truck, lets see, the westin platinum step bars from ford are $800.. the KC lights are $130, the Waag bar, that you cant even buy anymore, is $300 (he interupts, u might be able to get one on ebay) i say, 'no u cant' then i continue, , $400, for a full set of oem skid plates which are $1000 from ford, all this for $400?! what are YOU smoking?!" so i got up and walked out laffing...

then i drove over to the used part of the same dealership to find out what they want for their 2 stripped down versions of my truck... they both have more miles, less options, and they want $16K for each....

what a phuckin joke!

id be better off to buy my truck out, or lease a new one....

oh ya,m as a comparison, i got my truck at $248 a month $0 down.... so to get into a crappy boat, that gets same mpg, bigger gas tank so it costs more to fill it, plus $150 more per month, LOL all i can say is WOW.

i go to my moms and get her calculator, and im figuring all this out, at THEIR 'bargain' i can get a fully loaded leather everything ranger for like $340 on lease... but wtf pays sticker?! not me!

most car dealers are sharks, it's all about money in their pocket. Screw the customers, I used to work at a ford dealer down-town so I know all about their back-stabbing. After workin' there I would never buy from a dealer.

we get those letters all the time in the mail.. throw them out. they mean nothing... they're only to hook people into stopping by to see what they have to say, basically exactly how it worked on you, lol.

What ever it takes to get you in the door.

The moment he starts to talk about payments walk out.

When I was selling cars I would always give the customer the actual sale price anywhere from 500 over invoice to 200 under and all rebates.

Was the truck an '06 or an '07? The mailer was probably their attempt at clearing last years models.

Any '06 f-150 still on a lot should go for at least 5k under invoice.

Price out their truck at carsdirect.com.

i get those letters all the time saying "we'll pay off your loan and heres a great interest rate for you!" great, except for the fact my truck was paid for in cash back in late 2000 and even if it were financed, it would still be paid off by late 2005.

those letters are sent out to anyone who's done business with that dealership.

they were nice at my dealership... guess it was b/c of me buying my truck @ Christmas and all... got a great deal too. most the other car salesmen were so shady, dealership was really accommodating, and I'll prolly drive this truck till the wheels fall off...

Dealerships are scum bags. This wasnt a ford dealer ship,it was a vw dealer in fort myers fl.my dumbass bro goes and sees this 2004 vw 1.8t jetta for like 15k and it had 37k miles on it.he had a 2002 toyota celica with 60k miles.he owed 7k more and his celica would be payed off.the guys at vw told him theyd pay off his celica and subtract more for it off of the price of 15k..idiot signs all the papers trusting the dealers not double checking anything and then he gets his loan pappers in the mail saying the total amount he owes to vw is 24 thousand dollars!!!for a 15 thousand dollar car!!!he signed all the pappers so there no way out.thats what happens.my brothers first official car payments.**** DEALER SHIPS

ya, I worked at a ford dealership, they wont give you much if anything for stuff you've added to your truck. BUT, I can assure you when they go to resell the truck they will mark it up because of the add-ons. You're much better off removing any added items and selling them or putting them on your new truck.
