Squeaking when hubs locked
Squeaking when hubs locked
Hey all,
I have a 97 ranger 4x4. I have this odd squeaking when I have BOTH hubs locked. It almost sounds like a belt squeaking (I won't bore you with how far I've gone down that rabbit hole). The squeaking occurs weather or not I have the dial in the cab engaged in 2 or 4 wheel drive. I tried to isolate which side it may be coming from, and that's how I discovered that both hubs must be locked in order to replicate the problem. The squeaking occurs at speeds above 20 kph. Any suggestions on what may be going on?
Thanks!

Most likely the u-joints on the front axles
Might be front drive line u-joint
Have both hubs unlocked and transfer case in 2WD then spin front drive line by hand, see if you can feel or hear anything
