stalls out, need some help asap

hi gang, well heres the deal, my buddy convinced me to purchase a new intake filter, w/o the tubing, just the cone filter, well i have to remove the sensor, and the that made the "check engine" light come on of course, but when i start it, and drive it while its cold or warm it'l drive fine, but after driving around for a while it try's to stall out on me when i slow down, or decelerate the rpm's go all the way down to about 600 then it keeps going lower and lower and stalls, so i think im going to have my dad weld on a piece of aluminum tubing on one side of the sensor so i can continue usuing the cone filter and make that dame light shut off...

have any of you fellow ranger drivers done this "mod" and had this result. and if paps does weld on that tube, will it tell the computer to "compensate" for the massive increase of air comming in, which is what i think is making it stall out, cuz the computer doesn't know what to do. but yeah. any help would be greatly appreciated

thanx alot gang

So, you removed the MAF sensor and now wonder why the truck doesn't run correctly? Please tell me I am wrong...
