I had my truck at a garage to replace a rusted out, very leaky power steering line. He only had my truck for two weeks! I got it back yesterday, and now the steering is pulsating when I'm turning, and the whole truck shakes. What did he do?? I don't even know if he did anything, to fix it. What a nightmare!
Any ideas what to look for? He said it was air in the lines and it would work itself out. My answer was, "why didn't you do that?"

Don't you hate when you have to take it somewhere and pay a "so called professional " to do the work and they don't!

Sounds like it may have air in the system, try turning the steering wheel lock to lock several times with the engine on and see if you can get the trapped air out. Don't hold it too long at each end as that places a lot of pressure on the system, if you have someone else doing it while you have the cap off and you can look and see if any air is trapped and coming out as bubbles to the surface. Let us know how it turns out

 

Hi, thanks for the reply. I did get it fixed, myself...lol. It was air in the lines. Got it out by doing the small tight circles from lock to lock, left to right, and it was gone in no time. Oh my.

Yep, my alignment shop told me the same thing. The noise is never apparent on the test drive and only happens once the air makes it into the power steering pump, which could take upwards of two days to happen. It really just depends.

But having the truck for two weeks just to replace a power steering hose is a joke.
