Ok so I was pulling parts from an Eddie Bauer Explorer and I thought what the hell, might as well grab the steering wheel (air bag looked like crap so I left it, gonna be fun finding one of those) and clockspring (future mod) for 15 bucks. So I started thinking, what other OEM Ford steering wheels can be swapped out? Wiring can always be worked with but I was wondering about the spline size and the way the back of the wheels flow with the steering column.

So if any of you have swapped OEM Ford steering wheels (like Bob) please post here:

if i remember correctly, thunderbirds have the splines as well. 94-04 mustangs do not. they use a square post. that's what i have in my truck. it's a charcoal grey wheel from an 04 mustang.

 

Do you have cruise with that mustang wheel?

 

well, i don't have cruise on my truck at all, so no. however, i had the cruise pods on the wheel. i looked for months trying to find a non cruise mustang trim piece and finally found one. the pods are the same, but they won't plug-n-play. i'm sure you could rewire them to work. it takes a column swap/mod in order to use a mustang wheel.

here are pics of it after i finished wrapping the spokes, bag, and back trim in charcoal suede. oh yeah, it has an 01 ranger airbag in it as well.
