Icon8 Tailgate handle broke off...

So, about 25 minutes ago, I was going to load something in the bed of my truck when lo and behold the right side of the tailgate handle stuck... So I let it go, and pulled on it again, not hard cause I'm not a big guy and I was expecting it to free up after I let it go and it snapped off in my hand. Needless to say I'm peeved cause I'm one of the few that uses my truck as a truck, so I need my tailgate functional.

Anyone know roughly the price of the replacement piece and how to drop my gate with the broken handle?

to drop your gat take off the bedliner piece on tailgate if you have it and then remove the cover plate and pull the two rods towards the center

Wallyworld roll in bedliner. I'll have to do that then... I don't need it over the weekend to do more than use my bed as... well a bed to sleep in, but I'll have to get it replaced after I get home from Michigan.

They'll all do that eventually if you use the bed of your truck regularly. Someone on here sells a steel replacement. I just don't remember who.

It just broke off on the right side of the handle, the passenger side. The left side is still in tact.

FireRanger, if you remember who it was, if you don't mind, let me know. I'd be more interested in a steel handle over another cheap plastic one.

Mine broke back in May. I use my bed regularly but I was still pissed when it broke. Mine broke on the left drivers side.

Well, when I break mine again I'll pick up Wayne's handle. I wish I would have known about the metal handle before I had mine replaced, oh well, next time.

Do you know if this replacement metal handle is the wide handle or the older version that was smaller? Thanks

I picked up one from Wayne when mine died. It was a little smaller than my original, but it still looked like it was an oem part.
