It's crazy, but it's what happens with at-fault accidents and speeding tickets. If the driver is considered a "high risk" most insurance companies won't take them, and the ones that do, charge for it. Makes sense to me. Keeping your nose clean allows one to pay $80/month for full coverage. I had my share of speeding tickets and accidents growing up. The most I payed was $280/month for basic PLPD because of it. After 3 years for moving violations and 5 years for accidents, you're insurance record will clear up. Being over 25 years of age also helps.

OP, glad to hear you're alright. Hopefully you get her all fixed up.

Damn. How much does a new Ranger go for? with $13K+ worth of damages, I would have hoped that they would write it off and give me enough cash to buy a brand new one. Damn

Yeah I was in an accident in 07 but the semi driver was charged and was at fault so i got lucky on that one. But with an 05 Ranger and me being 20, my insurance is $326.46/month for 2 000 000 Liability, and 0$ deductible all around so it may seem like a lot but saves me if something does happen.

OP, damn 13000+ in damages.. sorry to hear. After it gets fixed take it to a ford dealer and they'll take it to auction and get you some money for it. Its an option.

Considering the cost of the repairs is 72+% of the price of a NEW Ranger, is there anyway you can get them to total the truck? You'd be getting more than $13K to use for another truck.

Just a thought.

jesse, doesn't your insurance have something along the lines that says if you write of you vehicle in the first year, your would get a replacement? mine had that. if i was to somehow write it off, they'd cover the cost of a brand new truck and payments wouldn't change. look into it and see what your insurance guy/gal says.

no because my insurance company is one of the cheaper ones they dont have all this extra stuff and looop holes the fact is they want to repair it so there going to repair it, and there not going to replace the toolbox so i'm thinking i'll take the rack and box off and buy a cover instead. i'll probably put the truck upfor sale on kijiji if anyone wants it they'll buy it if not i'll drive it into the ground, thats all i cna do.

welcome to ontario..... getting cut-off by a-holes here is pretty normal, especially on the 401 and it only gets better when you drive down the DVP (Don Valley Parkway, for those outside)...

I live literally two blocks from the highway entrance, and two years ago, there was a car that cut off a oil-tanker and the tanker crashed and went up in flames:

Somehow, they found out who the idiot was that cut off the tanker:

we had one of those in detroit. car cut off a tanker and it did the same thing. it was under an overpass and melted the whole structure of the bridge down. they caught the little b@stard. he had only had his driver's license for somewhere beteen 3 months and a year. luckily no one died in this crash. the trucker was able to control the truck and make traffic behind him keep away from any danger.

jesse you won't get much for it and you have to disclose the accident. i'd drive it til you had it paid off then sell it.

Unfortunately, the driver of the oil tanker died at the hospital. I still don't know how they caught the mf'er that cut him off, but it makes me glad that people out there ARE paying attention to people other than themselves while on the road. I'm guessing that's how they caught the guy.

I'm not sure about his state, but here in Mass, accidents only have to be disclosed if the buyer asks. Other than that, the seller doesn't need to state it up front.
