I guess it does. It's been darn cold here in old Iowa lately, as much has most of you, (Yesturday and today have been real nice though) Anyway, backed truck out of garage and there was a small puddle of tranny oil on the floor. Turns out one of the tranny cooler lines had a hose clamp come loose and started dripping. And of course the skid plate acts as a good bucket, it was a mess with oil and road grime.

I pulled the skidplate, tightned the clamp, cleaned up the skidplate and went to put it back on. Thats when I noticed the short cord with a cap on it. It was for the coolant heater, never knew I had it. It was tucked up behind the bumper, I had never noticed it before.

I plan on using it. My truck never really gets warmed up on my short drive to work. Might help my poor winter MPG?

It's fun to find stuff thats useful that you never knew you had. Now...for that missing $100 bill....

 

Would be nice if my truck had a block heater. Then I wouldnt have to wait so long for it to idle on its own in the morning.

 

luck... i want one really bad because the drive to school is only 10 mins and i never really turn the heat on

JDPARTSMAN99.....that was a tranny cooler not a coolant heater....if there was tranny fluid on the gound it definately was a cooler not a heater....

Make sure you check your tranny fluid level now. I would want a block heater but I have no place to plug it in.

 

My tranny was 1 quart low....not too cool. That darn skid plate acts like a bucket and caught all the oil until it was full and ran over, otherwise I would have caught it sooner.

 

At least you caught it. Imagine if you had let your girlfriend drive the truck for the day!

 

Last time my wife drove my truck she ran it out of gas. I am glad the line didn't blow off and drain the tranny completely going down the road.

 

Good eye catching that! It has been pretty cold. It especially was last week, but has warmed up quite a bit.

It should help your MPG if you only drive a short distance to work and previously didn't warm up your truck before work.
