Timing cover mis-match
Timing cover mis-match
I found that my timing cover is mismatched to the engine. Is it possible this came like this from the manufacturer and that my valve cover gasket replacement will hold? Thanks. John
???
What engine size and what year Ranger
And you mention timing cover AND valve cover so a 4cyl engine?
And no, unlikely to come from factory with wrong part, its not like they don't have extra correct parts lying around at an engine assembly plant

It is off set a bit but vertically and not horizontal like I mistakenly remembered. The valve cover sat flush so it's fine. I'm just trying to find and fix a vacuum leak. My short term fuel trim swings way up to the max and then tries to go minus to correct the long term and that's when it'll stall. Now the computer has disabled crankshaft fuel, and disabled the injectors. Maybe my computer got fried when I unhooked the battery while it was running.idk yet

Ford ranger 2.3l dohc. I've been throwing parts at basically all the sensors are replaced,EGR the simple things. I'll put the intake manifold back on and a new pcv valve while checking that hose completely out of the bay new plugs, and new fuel pump. It should start up and I'll decide if the computer was damaged unhooking the battery while it was running. I'll get it it's at 110,000 so there is so left to it. Thanks for the interest. John
