Trading in the Ranger

Well, I am thinking about trading in my 2003 Ranger..... I am kinda torn on the subject though. I mean it has been a great truck and I have nothing but praise for the new Rangers... However it is time to move on... I had a reg cab F150 before but it only had a 4.2, nice, smooth riding, but this time I am going all out I think. I am looking at the 2006 supercab FX4s... Have any of you all heard anything bad about the new F150s?? Thanks!!

My parents have an 06 F150 King Ranch and it is simply amazing. The ride is smooth as glass and it is even quieter than my parents Mercedes car! We took it on a road trip from Edmonton to Palm Springs and it was awesome - definitely the new road trip vehicle! It was totally loaded up in the bed and with 4 adults and driving at about 75-80, it averaged 16mpg. All around a solid, comfortable, quiet truck.

The only full sized truck my family has ever owned where F-150's. They are long lasting, and wont let you down. One of my family members bought a FX4 and next week his brother did as well. Awesome trucks.

I also have a new F-150 with no complaints whatsoever, the truck is perfect in every way.

Why give up the SOHC? Well unless you have the $$ and want more room an F-150 is a nice upgrade. My dad has a 2005 Supercab XL 4x4 with a 4.6L and a sweet work truck it is!. He thought it hauled *** but later realized its a slug well after driving it so long. A 4.6 can haul a Mustang but NOT a heavy fullsize 4x4 truck lol!

$$$ isn't a problem.... Definately would love to have more room, and the 300hp out of that new 3V 5.4 Triton!!! Thats the main thing! :)) Nah, there isn't any thing wrong with the 4.0 SOHC, but I am 6'3" and to actually have anyone ride in the Ext cab of the Edge is about impossible... I think I picked out which one I am going to get. It is Black and Shadow Gray at the bottom, supercab FX4 with the Stainless step bars, overhead console, captain seating with floor shifter, power pedals and power sliding rear window with reverse sensing .... It is very sharp!!

Where I live , there are about 250 unsold F-150's left from last year , not a bad truck , just not good enough milage in the 2 wheel version . Last year they were selling them 6, 000 $ less than a ranger ! You want a 4X4 so milage isn't your main concern , I understand . Check national listings though . Might save a couple of thousand dollars even though you have to drive it back 1,000 miles .

Too bad you're getting rid of the Ranger, but I agree with you on the current Rangers and what the future holds.
My view's on the Ranger changed in 01' with the introduction of the powerdome hood and some newer features. Well they've gone and put a Mazda bed on the Rangers and with no step side in the future plans.....with it goes my desire for the newer Rangers. Don't get me wrong, the 2006 line up is nice, I like the fender gaurdes on the new FX4's.....but the look just doesn't do it for me as my 01 does.

Guess it's move up to the F series or get my bloody Mustang....LOL Never really liked the Mustangs untill the 05 style. Very classic. Seemed everyone had an 80's to mid 90's Mustang.....never been a fan of a "cookie-cutter" style vehicle. LOL
