Transfer Case fluid
2000 ranger 4x4 4.0 does the transfer case share it's fluid with the transmission?

No. Transfer case has a separate drain and fill plug. It does take Mercon ATF fluid though.

As I recall the drain plug is behind the harmonic balance weight at the rear of the transfer case. I don't remember if the fill plug is hidden.
