Hey guys so i got to fill up my 94 ford ranger 4.0 v6 manuel my book says it needs 13.5 quarts can I use any type of manuel transmission fluid say like from walmart. I just went over to advanced auto and its gona cost me close to 150$ to fill up my transmission, any cheaper routes and how specific does the fluid have to be for my truck I would think they're pretty much universal since its just lubricant basically any tips appriciated thanks

 

You have an M5OD-R1 manual transmission in a 1994 Ranger, it holds 2.8quarts BONE DRY
If draining and refilling you might get just above or below 2 quarts back in

It uses Mercon V automatic transmission fluid, yes ATF in a manual transmission

 

Don't trust anybody behind the counter, dealing with dozens of vehicle models & hundreds of customers every day.
Read & understand the DoorLabel & OwnersManual for your vehicle; look up your VIN & know it's specs.
Not knowing this info & using the wrong Tranny ATF will destroy your Tranny,
then you'll need new Nikes from Walmart for all the walking you'll be doing.

Shop around; $150 on ATF for any tranny is ridiculous.
