Truck got broken into
I can't stand people that break into cars I had my old truck broken into last year and they tried to get my stereo out and stupid buggars just scratched it up gave up and ended up only stealing my owners manual but i ended up with a punched door lock and a scratched deck
btw i cut my lock rods out long long time ago. no need for them really. you can tell if the door is locked or not if it doesnt open. no need for that silly rod popping out of the hole.
This kind of brings up the thread I recently saw active along the lines of "what's in your tool box". What an inviting way to ask for someone to break into your personal possessions.
Now on the other side of the coin, as once argued to me. Why should one have to worry about what they do and don't leave in their vehicle?
Technically you're not safe anywhere. I FINALLY broke down and got renter's insurance after my house was broken into while my girlfriend and I were visiting my grandparents in GA for Spring Break. The POS took my not even 2 months old 32in Samsung LCD TV, my gf's laptop, her wii and our wii games. We've not replaced a thing because 1) neither of us can afford to at the moment - it took us over 9 months of combined saving to get those items, and 2) I'm jobless right now.
I've got half a mind to keep the next rattlesnake I find while out in the field and just release it into my truck when I can't physically have it safe guarded. This short-s**t sicilian will have a field day should he ever catch who broke in this past spring break, let alone any future attempts.
Get a tint, get an alarm, those two things help detur from snooping. There's still glass that's easy to break.
my truck got broke into about a month ago, they just busted the drivers window though. stole a good 1600 worth of audio equipment, caused $1100 worth of interior damages as well. i know the feeling and it sucks. mine happened on campus as well. i haven't park on a surface lot since the semester start since it's less likely to get broken into while in a parking garage.
that sucks man. it happens. and before someone posts it, please don't post a vid or how-to in this thread showing the 'trick' that the theif used.
I think it's time for a how-to mod to block this way of entry. sheet metal ftw.
Marie's truck was broken into today....unfortunately, there's damage to the door. All to steal garage door openers and charging cables. Didn't even touch her stereo. Cop came to dust the truck in the damaged area, first thing the cop said "your truck is really clean'.....got real good prints.

whats this sheetmetal mod?
I know it's all over youtube..thats why i asked for noone to post it...just dont want it appearing here as it's never been an okay thing to post here or on any other RBV site. The fix is fine though. The sheetmetal goes inside the door to block that area of entry.
my truck got hit about 2 months ago. no damage to the door or locks either. not so lucky with my interior though, they ripped out the entire radio bezel and HVAC controls just to take my deck and CB radio. had to replace the dash... about $2800 in damage and loss.. Although they didnt touch my amps and sub, only my $150 Pioneer deck, Cobra 29 CB, and old cell phone lol. F--- people that break into cars.

Anyway it is a good reason for me to keep stock stereos. I always want to get nicer stereos but I figure it is a good reason to break into my stuff. I never understand the fools who drive around with their stereos as loud as possible, advertising their expensive sound systems. Then they also **** and moan when it gets stolen.
Fortunately I can always park in the garage at home now, and my truck is on private property when I work. My wife's work now is in a super poor ghetto neighborhood, but she's keeping a factory stereo for similar reasons. Plus the police station is right next door.
Garage door openers are something I always worry about though. It would be pretty easy to grab one and take the registration, and get to your house before you, if a person really wanted to.
He doesn't know too much about ranger or else he would have just removed the two bolts and just taken the whole center bezel with the radio. The cops will eventually catch him...it sucks man but times are getting tough for everybody...
I plain on it and I am. I know anyone can just break the glass but I want to prevent break in every way I can. I would really like to know how to do the sheet metal thing...
Dude thats a good idea! With power locks you cant pull the thing up anyway. Dont know why they have it on there.
