I gained 2mpg highway with a ford tonneau on my old ranger

 

I see people driving with tailgates down thinking they would get better MPG, nope just a good way to ding your tailgate or lose it.

 

b eing that the rangers are a small truck they dont handle extra weight well.For every 100 lbs you lose 1mpg

When I put one on my truck, I got right around that. I average about 0.5mpg increase with my truck. Working the math, it's around a 2.5% increase in mileage. No, it's not much, but like most here have said, I prefer the cargo security more than the increase.

The small bump in mileage is just a bonus. It's around an extra 10miles out of a tank that I get from the cover. At today's gas prices, it's about a $2 savings per tank. I paid $200 for the cover shortly after buying the truck two years ago. It will have paid for itself in time, but certainly not a very quick ROI.
