Mark98xlt 09-24-2008 08:03 PM

why would you even bother sending them an email asking them, obviously they are illegal if they are extremely loud and do not belong on a motor vehicle unless its some how considered a train?

Common sense there was no need to email them but im guessing your parents made you.

lol im sure they do...

lol calling me a noob? You have like a june 2008 date of registration haha I was driving a ranger before you prob hit puberty so if anyone is a noob its you.

jrpro130 09-24-2008 08:13 PM

You can/will still get a sound ordinance violation.

By the way the law is written,t here is a lot of gray area. Just because we call them "train HORNS" are they really a "horn" or a siren, etc?

Your still going to get in trouble for them if you blow them around/in hearing range of a P.O.

down here you can't even have them visible anymore...they pull you over for unsafe equipment. their excuse is that they cause accidents, and you can change th elights with them (the lights are sound changing...for the fire/ems horns)

I have no desire for a set, they are cool and all and have seen the phase from when it first started. I have plenty of friends with train horns on their mini trucks obviously I have been around them. Im not talking **** on them just strictly saying they are illegal and obviously its common sense why, they distract and in some cases can scare someone driving and could cause and accident in a response to such a loud horn going off unexpectedly.

Fx4wannabe01 09-24-2008 10:45 PM

Use a horn('train' horn or not) when necessary and use it for its purpose, you're good to go.

Melt 09-24-2008 11:44 PM

whats funny is one time i was drivin down the freeway and someone had a emergency horn hooked up ... you know the ones that sound all like ehhhhhhhhheeeeeetttttttttttttttttt like are on ambulences and **** ... i wonder where to get those.

TRoyBv6320 09-24-2008 11:57 PM

from the email they sent you, it sounds like they are more worried about them being to quiet than to loud.

I sold my train horns a year ago, and I've missed them since. I really need to get some new ones.

Read this part again..

"No motor vehicle or trackless trolley shall be equipped with, nor shall any
> person use upon a vehicle, any siren, whistle, or bell. "

What exavtly is the DMV Definition of ' Siren ' and ' Horn '
? Are you smart enough or educated enough to know the difference?

Let me give you a clue so you can try and use your one brain-cell and look it up.

Find out what a ' Decible ' is.

Find out how many your factory horn is limited to AND what your ' Train horns ' really qualify as.

If your going to flame back, by all means, be educated about it or you'll look further like an arse when your corrected again.

Stupid n00b.
