In replacing my thermostat housing, a bolt broke in the lower thermostat housing. I've got the housing out, but still need to remove the broken bolt (remains sticking up about 3/8). I'm not sure if I need to remove the upper intake manifold or not to remove it, but if I do, I'm not going to consider it end of world bad as I see how many people suffer leaks (although it seems that those that do have the older two piece, but maybe that's my perception).

In searching on the removal, I can't find anyone that has done a write-up removing my version (first pic below). It's always this tube based thing (second pic). Does anyone know of a video and/or write-up on removing my version?

The 4.0l SOHC has 9.7:1 compression ratio so needs a knock sensor to run on regular(87 octane) gas, it is in the valley under the intake and should be changed if possible when you go that deep into the engine

 

Thanks Ron, I'd actually looked at that but was looking for one of these detailed writeups/videos that are out there. Sort of surprised I couldn't find one, figured at least someone would have done one by now. Maybe I'm/we're lucky and my style doesn't have the leak problems the others had? One can only hope...
