Vehicle Prep For CA trip

I will be heading out to California this weekend to stay at our place in Huntington Beach and I am getting my truck ready for the long drive.

What i want to do is this:

Change oil

Change Transfer Case fluid

Check Tire Pressure

Clean Air Filter

Clean Intake and Throttle Body

My questions are here.

What oil does everyone use for T-case??

Any other things i should check before the trip??

Any other recommendations?

Truck is 4.0L FX4

I really just want to know about the T-case and what people run in it? Also i remember hearing the drain plug is hidden behind that round peice? Is that true? If so all i have to do is just remove that??

Thanks.

T-case should take ATF, IIRC

Is there a good synthetic for this?

Do you recommend synthetic??

Or just straight ATF?

I know its a 5spd, but you might as well change the trans fluid while your changing the T-case fluid. That is, if its never been changed.

Use either for the T case. I'm switching to synthetic when I get it to stop leaking.

Oh. Also make sure your spare has the correct pressure in it. The last thing you need is to get a flat only to find out that the spare is also flat.

All the parts stores around here dont carry the synthetic stuff, they have to order it, but if you can get synthetic I would go with it...hell the T-case doesnt take that much, so it wont cost an arm and a leg.
