I've noticed that I had some moisture in one of my taillights for like a year, so I went ahead and pulled it off the truck and noticed a pool of water about 1.5" swimming in the bottom of the tail light.

Anyone else have this, or know how to fix it?

Drill a small hole (1/8) in the bottom of the tail light. Pull the bit out often so the shavings don't end up in the assembly. Should fix the problem.

 

that or drain the water and let the light dry out, then seal it up with some clear silicone.

best way to dry it out is to let it sit over the heater vent or leave it out in the sun.

 

with the lense taken off? or left on?

Thats the best way to do it.. if winter hits and you have an 1/8th inch hole in your light.. any water that does get in ther ewill gather around teh bulb as well, freeze, and burn your lights out awful quick..

get it dried, silicone the edges up, along with around the lightbulb.. and call it a day =)

i had some 03 tails on my truck and one of the covers fell off!
some are just built poorly.

 

I have after market tails on my truck that get condensation in them. At first I had the same problem. But then. I found out, on the back of the light itself, is a 'breather tube' of sorts. I cut this off, and all has been fine since.

 

I ended up drilling a small hole to drain the water, dried everything out and then used silicone to prevent any more water from coming in. Easy fix, thanks for the help.

Anyone know a good/cheap source for '06 tails?

 

That happened on my 06 tails, I sealed up the outside with silicone and wrapped up the bulb sockets in teflon tape and that did the trick
