Is it weird to have fender flares with stock wheels/tires?

Hi there, I’m thinking about getting fender flares for my 2011 XLT, but what I’m seeing is that most people add the fender flares to accommodate larger wheels/tires.

as much as I’d like to buy bigger wheels and tires, I can’t really justify it as my existing ones are in great condition/wear.

so the question is, if I were to add flares over my stock wheels, is that goofy or strange looking? Anyone ever done this?

Picture of my new (old) ranger attached for reference!

It was an option without the wider tires so sure why not if you like the look

In some areas its required to have tires fully covered by a "fender" so they don't spray out water/debris, but it can make for a better look as well

You can see the color matched flares in some of the pictures, but tires are not that wide

Totally judgmental here, yes. It IS weird

Seriously though, they can be useful if you're driving through muddy areas a lot. The keep the roster tail from giving you earth-colored flame job on your doors and bedsides.

If it's just road driving, I wouldn't. I would wait until your great condition tires and wheels aren't so great.

I have 31's on my rig with no flare or lift on a 2wd XLT (note avatar) and I think it's a near-perfect look. I do look to a spindle lift to make it perfect, though
