well it happened

well. unfortunately my truck was broken into last night. whoever did it, used a radio antenna from another car shoved it through the door and hit the unlock button. i lost my radar detector my sub. a box of tools my gps some gift cards that i brought with me to school that i had hidden in the truck my oakleys and other miscellaneous stuff. they also popped the hood and tried taking my K&N intake but only made off with the filter for it and messed with the MAF which i didn't find out till after the truck was throwing codes..

Ive honestly have never felt so violated in my life and the total of stuff taken is just about 1,000 dollars. i had my insurance company tow my truck home because i wanted it off campus seeing i'm at college and everything. i'm looking into some good alarms for the truck and getting the windows tinted. but yeah. just thought id update everyone on my truck i guess.. the weird thing is, they left the amp and my head unit. and my ez pass. they also left the more expensive tool box out of the two..

i filed with the cops and campus security but they haven't really done anything and basically told me this has happened before. the cop insinuated that i was trying to commit insurance fraud or that someone i knew did it. i don't think they will catch anyone and i know i'm not getting anything back. but we'll see what happens.

Good God I hate a thief. I shudder to think of what I might do if I ever caught someone doing that. Sorry it happened.

hmm...If a thief broke into my truck, they might be able to get a dollar from the scrap yard by collecting the steel dust from inside my truck.

Sorry this happened. Id be madder than fire.

Agreed, a lot of dumbass thiefs get caught that way.

I have clifford alarm on my truck, flashes bright enough that they know there is an alarm, any vibration or touch of the truck sets of a 4 warning beep and the actual alarm is loud and crazy enough to scare any thief. Sorry it happened man

Sorry man. I've had someone break into my truck twice and each time they stole my radar detector. I no longer have a radar detector hoping that they won't break in again. lol

Same thing happened to me last year right before christmas. Took about $600 worth of stuff. Insurance deductible was 500 so that didnt help. So I went out got an alarm put on it and have a few guns ready to go... Alarm goes off someone better hope I dont hear it. As they will get about 7 or 8 dollars worth of lead and copper to take to the scrapyard after the doctor takes it out of their ***

Hate to say it, but even if they are robbing you and you shoot them you will probably be the one getting in trouble since your life was not threatened. Happens more often than it should. Gotta love this country.......

this is true.

sorry to hear about your truck Chris
my Key FOB fell apart on me a couple of months ago, which of course meant I couldnt set my alarm, I got real sketchy parking anywhere other than in front of my house.

a good alarm will pay for itself if you only get an attempted break in once, especially if it actually deters the thief/thieves.

"Well Officer I am Deeply sorry It had to be this way but I was in fear for my life, and as soon as he reached into his jacket after threatening me I had to use my right as an American Citizen to protect my Life and Property."

Whos story would you believe Mine "The law abiding citizen on MY property who has never been in trouble a day in my life"
Or the dead criminal guy.

Besides Check this story out
Police investigate larceny and shooting | WAVY.com | Suffolk, Va.

Or the one about the store owner who was next door to his store drinking when he saw someone breaking into his store and he shot the guy through the window. That happened in the same city.

Any way plenty of lawyers on my side

Sorry about the thread hack.

Yup, ****ty feeling when your truck gets broken into.

My Bronco has been broken into twice. And when my Ranger was towed a few months back, either the tow truck driver or someone at the tow yard stole my pistol. Bastards.

I had a truck broken into because of the ****ty hasp on the sliding back windows... Bastards used something to pop it in and unlock it, stole my head unit, full cd case ( about 90 cd's) and my sun glasses. I had the cops involved, it was on base in front of the base gym and no one saw anything or heard anything, alarm went off and all, broad daylight. Insurance said the base would cover it, base said thats what insurance is for, bottom line, I got screwed.
I felt so violated the next time I drove the truck, it was to a dealership and bought a Jeep. I saw the truck a few weeks back and it looks the same as when I traded it in. It's been 15 years next month and still pisses me off...

Sorry about the thread hack.

You'd have to be completely ignorant to even attempt shooting someone for breaking into your vehicle. If you wanna be the poster child for stupidity with firearms and go to jail and then court for 2-3 years of your life, spend thousands of dollars, then more power to ya. Your firearm will be police property for at least a couple years, if not forever. I've read tons of stories about gun owners being found not guilty but never getting their firearm back. There's not "lots of lawyers" that are just gonna feel sorry for you and jump on board either. Judges aren't kind to people involved in shootings either, whether you were defending yourself or not. Plus if you shoot anyone, you better make DAMN SURE it was an obvious threat against your life, and they're DEAD in the first two shots. If not, you're getting sued later down the road, like it or not. THESE are the realities of living in America in this day and age.

As for the OP, you can thank the media for people using that antenna trick.
