Icon9 Wet driver side floor 2011 xlt

Noticed driver side carpet wet in the middle. Pulled up carpet and saw a rubber plug with duct tape over it. Passenger side had same plug but no tape. I assume the plug is letting water in can't see other side because the catalytic converter is in the way. Anyone else have this issue, if so what was your fix.

peel back the carpet get in with the doors closed and get someone to do a water hose test. Spray down into the cowl panel and around the windshield till you find the leak.

Wet carpet in a Ranger is usually a leak in the 3rd brake light on the back of cab

Yes, you would think rear carpet would be wet first, lol, it isn't, seems to run up to drivers side for whatever reason.

The tape on the plug was probably from previous owner looking for any place water could come in, I doubt very much water could get in thru that plug, tape or no tape, unless you parked it in a stream with water higher than bottom of the door, lol.

Google: Ranger 3rd brake light leak

Lots of info on this common problem.

Yes, could be windshield leak but not very likely on 2011 model year, takes quite a few years for channel around windshield to rust thru

On the bottom of the doors are drain holes, they need to be kept clear so water can drain out when it runs in down the window
You will hear it sloshing around when you open and close the door if drains are plugged, it won't be your problem just giving you the heads up
