What a Bad weekend

So I just want to know what I should do next time.

So I was having the worst weekend of my life. Like 16 things went wrong 4 or 5 of which were on my truck.
So there I was just minding my own business driving around...at 2 am and decided to go into a parking lot and I saw a snow hill. around 2-3 feet of hard ice. I drove parallel to it got my truck up on it a bit. Then i decided to drive perpendicular to it (head on) and look under my truck. Did that...whatever. So then i thought i should just drive over it...bad idea.
Your prob like what a dumbass...guilty. So i get high centered. right in the middle of my truck. the right side is touching but not the left. so the wheels not touching are spinning. So I was like of course. this would happen this weekend. So It's 2 am, I didnt have my cell phone, no one around, no winch, didnt want the cops or tow truck to come, so i attempted to get out myself. i had a piece of wood in my bed tried that, didnt work. So then i thought i would jack up the front so the back only touched and get out that way. Since it was so far off the ground it only went up an addtl 3 inches. Thank god with my gear jamming, and heavy foot i got out. So one broken jack, torn up hands, ground up gears, and damaged pride i got out.
But I was wondering what should i have done? And does anyone have a stock jack they want to sell me?
I thought about keeping some bricks in my truck, or more wood.
Any Suggestions would be great.

what you should do is find some fellow truckers and do a little real 4 wheeling
being a parking lot poser is for loosers
you are not a looser are you??

off road you will need a snap strap
front and rear tow points
a HiLift jack and base plate, either homemade or store bought
small shovel
work gloves

but most of all friends to wheel with
besides the woods and the 4x4 experiance your wheeling buddies are the most important aspect of the trip

there's only one solution, raise it and put some 35 mudders on... if you still get stuck, it probably needs more power

that's my solution to everything.. more power. unfortunatly it didn't work for my mp3 player
