IMO the tacoma 4x4s are pretty decent, or the nissan xterra.

id say a tacoma... my brothers 04 3.4 prerunner gets about 18mpg in the city and 21 highway and its pretty capable off road being a 2wd. the 4x4 will probally get a little less mpg due to the added weight. but with some long tubes(i think they make long tubes for those trucks) and intake and some other mods and a ligth foot you could probally get about 19

I love my level 2.... 16 - 17 MPG, off roads good. stock tires are great, easy to lift, can haul a decent amount. Failry quick

I also love diesel excursions. But they sink in the mud, handle like poo. Might get me in the MPG catigory though

as of right now im thinking a 2wd ranger extended cab is my best beat!It still can off orad and it has the best gas milage out of anything else acording to msn auto.Or ive been wondering about this new jeep patriote that gets like 30 mpg and its 4 wheel drive.!i think im going to check it out.

The patriot is not an off road vehilce, and the fact that jeep markets it that way scares me. I don't take my truck off road, but I will tell you with a 5 speed manual 2wd ext cab 4.oh, I get really good mileage. Its always a steady 20+ in the summer with 80-90% city driving.....

Those are Chevys in the commercial....

The Toyota is Rated higher then the F150 for towing. (9300 for the f150 4x4 extended cab vs 10300 for the toyota double cab.)

The new Jeep Gladiator that they decided not to make- idiots. 4 door midsize truck, Common Rail diesel with massive low end torque capable of running under water, mileage in the low 30's. D-44 front with lockers front and rear. Coilovers all around (I think). Easy to lift and mileage would be same if you kept the stock 34's or went huge.

Im on ford.com I cant find the model that can do that? everything i see is a max of 9500 so far.

Edit: its their regular cab 5.4 long bed 4x2. What a waste, ill take the toyota double cab 4x4 with the 10300 capacity over that any day.
