What is this black bar looking thing on my 98 rangers door?

That holds the door key cylinder in place(outside of the door)
If you pull it out you can then pull out the door key cylinder........a bit, a rod will still be attached to it on the back side

You can see the black metal "fork" holding the key cylinder, the "black bar" you see on the back edge of door the end of that "fork"
The rod runs down to the lock mechanism, so turning the key locks or unlocks that door
