Finally finished the brakes on my truck yesterday. What started out as a wheel speed sensor replacement 4 weeks ago turned into almost a complete replacement of the brake system. I didn't touch the abs unit, master cylinder, or brake booster. Everything else got replaced. All the brake lines, front splash shields, new calipers and hardware, pads, rotors, drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, drum hardware kit, and the parking brake cables. Granted it took so long because I only worked on the truck on the weekends, with the exception of yesterday, and everything the fact that everything was done in stages due to the fact that as one problem was fixed another was discovered. Not to mention the fun of trying to find the correct parts.

Did my first long drive. Took it to saint helens Oregon to register it. 303 miles on the tank. Got 19.1 mpg. I'm hoping for 20 on my commute. But a lot of this trip was rish hour traffic and 75+ my commute has no traffic, and its 60-65. I think with a little hyper milling and the lower speeds I can do it.

Just ordered some axle bearings and seals from Ford White Bear Lake (old Tousley parts). The local Ford dealership wanted $750 for parts and $300 for labor. I spent $58 on parts (plus diff fluid) and I'll do it myself.

Switch to manually control the AC arrived, time to fit that along with replacing the dash bulbs.

According to the mechanic's guess from the behavior I broke the final drive drum in the transmission. I have first, second and over drive.

Removed the rear jump seats. Started prepping the back cabin area for a floor drawer(Tools, Emergency cloths, rations, off-road recovery, etc.). and 5" back cabinet (out of sight out of mind storage).

No, I was never in the Navy.
I just found this on YouTube and thought it might work well for me.
I make paracord bull whips so I had plenty of cord on hand.
This took about 92' of cord and all morning (3 hrs) to do.

I think it's called a " ring bolt hitch" .
It's pretty easy to do, but totally time consuming.

Very productive day. Spent about 4 hours doing front brakes, power steering pump and fluid flush, and I bought the Ford tsb drive line fix kit. No more whine, no more clunk, no more worn brakes.

I'm waiting on my blue tooth obd adapter so I can figure out why my truck idles high.

Hope you got the PS pump bled all ok, it's not the most cooperative of systems to bleed :(

What drive line kit are you talking about?

Which reader did you order?

I see you replaced your wheels already? or is that the F150? (what are you doing with those American racing wheels?)

I had no issues with the system. I disconnected the lines at the cooler to drain it before I started working on it. I filled it with fluid, let it sit, re-filled it, and started it up. Cycle the wheel back and forth a few times, and re-filled it. pump makes no noise, and there is no shudder.

Ford issued a TSB that is basically new metal bands for the slip yoke and a different lube. Its like $25 at the dealership. I found the part number in a thread. There's one for the aluminum and steel drivelines, as they have different sized clamps.

I ordered this reader -
Amazon Amazon

It has been noted on the forum as working, along with the ad stating it will. I ordered a fake elm adapter off ebay a while ago for my old bmw but it won't work in the ranger.

The wheels on the ranger are still on it. They are in awful shape. There's something all over them.

I don't have an f150(lies, I have 2... i just refer them as lightnings, and often forget they are F150s), i have a 250, but you wouldnt confuse it with the ranger. its silver, and on 37s.
IF you mean the black truck in the back ground, thats my 540hp lightning, those are the stock wheels for it.
I also tore the seat back apart and noticed what is broken in it. I either need to find another seat, or find out if I can just swap the backs to the passenger side, as almost no one rides there.

Ahh, interesting, which pump did you get? i got one from reman autozone and it's not a quiet one. Curious, did you run MerconV in it or the original Mercon?

The picture i saw when you got the Ranger, the wheels looked ok, but i guess not.

Yeah, i saw the black lightning, i noticed the SVT wheels, bet that's a lot of fun with that much power :)

Shame about the seat though, i have cracked insides to the arm rest, so no where near the same problem, annoying nonetheless - the bigger problem is the ripped seat fabric :(

Changed the oil last weekend, first vehicle I've owned where I didn't need to put it on the lift (or jack up the front end) to do so.

Pulled off all the wheels and dumped the balancing beads, then balanced them again with stick on weights. While the fronts were off I installed new Bilstein shocks.

This pump

I'll post a close up of the wheels later. I ran mercon v because I already had it.

The lightning used to be fun. It's been converted to two seats and with two kids, I almost never drive it.
