Everybody loves Polls! Just want to add to the selection of polls so we can see what percentage of owners are what...

For multiple ranger owners, please choose what you daily driver/main vehicle contains.

I think we should see mostly 3.0l as about 2/3rds of the fleet of rangers come with it. But the question is, as an ranger enthusiast (which is why you visit sites like these) are you more likely to have the 4.0l? We shall see...

What Engine do you have?

Aren't there two 4.0 liter engines?
The current SOHC and the past OHV design?

wind from hurricane for sale on ebay...

I have had both the OHV and the SOHC 4.0. Must say by far I like the SOHC much better. Smoother and better on gas if you can believe it.

4.0 is a 4.0 no mater which way you slice it. I say leave it since there are only a handfull of OHV's on here, me being one of them.. just my opinion...

Yeah, well... maybe! :p

I actually knew the majority of trucks sold were 3.0ls, then the 2.3l, then the 4.0l. My point was that most enthusiasts here are 4.0l. Kinda a chicken or the egg question...

2.5L here. Not a very strong motor, but extremely reliable. The good thing about having a roughly 30 year old engine design is that it works. The only real downside is I have eight spark plugs and wires to replace when most other four cylinders only have four.

Did they change anything since 96? I know I tryed to change the plugs on a 96 2.5L and there were two plugs that we just said screw it because they are under the intake manifold... oh well just wondering...

No, they are still hard to get to. All that has really changed is displacement and a few other odds and ends.

Ford put the 2.8 in the 83-85 Rangers equipped with the V6.

I have the 4.0 OHV, bro has 2.9, pops has the 2.5.

My Ranger has a 2.9 (good engine, but the redline SUCKS!)
My BII XLT has a stock 2.8
My wife's BII Eddie Bauer has a stock 2.8
My 78 Mustang II has the 2.8 that used to be in Broncenstein (built to the nuts, and better output than a stock 4.0 ANY day! Actually about the same as a stock 5.0, but redlines at about 7200 RPM) :D
