What gear to go muddin

I have a 99 4x2 automatic transmissions and i was wondering which gear is best to go mudding in. Should i just keep my truck in drive or would it be better in 1st or 2nd gear . Tell me what you think.

I just leave mine in drive cuz if I leave it in 1st on the selector thing than I blow my fuse that works my reverse lights & air conditioner...

Yeh I don't think it's supposed to happen either, as soon as my tach hits over 4k then it blows...

get urself the biggest trans cooler u can fit first off. i usually run the mud in D unless its a long put then ill manual shift (i can do this, built tranny) from first to second and leave it there...but im not a ranger either...

remember u want controlled wheel spin so just dont floor it when u enter the mud. excessive throttle will send the *** end around and will make it harder to control. 1/3-1/2 throttle seems to work best for me unless its a deep hole then ill go down to 2/3...and dont let off the throttle unless u need to...momentum loss = stuckage, especially in a 2wd.

ya brest road is near inkster road and northline. There are trails left and right, but i think there a little to deep for my truck. North tatitorial aaaa. i wish i would have known that i was on that road today picking up a cherry picker for my brothers mustang.

This is in Michigan, United States of America you're talking about right?

For a second I thought you were refering to Cambodia or Venezuela or someplace. Chickens in the store and pizza that gives you cramps!
