What is the part number for a clock spring?

I need to get a clock spring for my 04 Ford Ranger FX4 and there are differing part numbers. So I'm not sure where to buy. Any help guys? I cannot purchase it locally because the Ford dealership in my town went out of business so any online site is legit for me.

I just got one for a 96, your best bet would be to call a dealer, give them your VIN and they will give you the EXACT part number your truck needs. I will have to dig through my receipts and get you the company I used, they were real good.

Found it!

Not to steer a thread a wrong way, but how would one know if he needs a clock spring?

Years ago I swapped seats and had air bag light, had a driver's bag pop in my face due to pothole. Replaced tensioners and the air bag computer in front of the shifter. Still have airbag light code 4-7 and never replaced clock spring. Does this have anything to do with it?

Aaron....text me your VIN# and I'll see what my Ford hook up says...

47 is passenger side pretensioner. clock spring wouldn't have anything to do with it. if your airbags blew, your pretensioners blew as well.

clock springs rarely break, but it does happen. i had it happen on my 95 once. the horn would blow when i turned left. but normally, you would hear a crunching noise then your cruise and horn wouldn't work, along with an airbag light.

3-2 is a clockspring...and its common practice to replace them anytime an airbag blows...most insurance companies will write for them

My cruise pods dont work nor does horn. It happened after a strong left turn and in the past one time when i first body lifted my "Steering extension came out" and i reinstalled but i feared my wheel got twsited before it was fixed so i probably messed it up.

Sorry if that's confusing, just woke up from nap. Shane ill hit ya up later when im with truck

I've always put a new clock spring in when i repaired crash jobs.

But like Troy said, they do break on occasion. I would say try the junkyard, but i bet your hard pressed to find one in Alaska.

If I was up north it wouldn't be an issue. Not my town though unfortunately.

I'll throw in in case anyone searches this (why would they do that?)
The clock spring will work with most Fords with the same steering wheel as yours. Just needs to have the same options. Such as cruise and horn.

Thanks for the info. I always thought 4-7 was something different? All tensioners were swapped from stock seats to new seats.....then driver's swapped with she got triggered along with the computer. IDK....it's been forever and a half since I've cared to actually fix the problem. Seeing as though I had a bag pop in my face while still showing that code.....bags work! lol.

Aaron LOVES my thread hackage.

Seeing as though 04-11 Rangers are the only thing Ford has with the same column and wheel... That isn't much possible. Not like ours that have the Explorer option to us.

Yes, but 95-00 have the same clock spring and airbag as many other Ford trucks from 95-00.
