2000 Ford Ranger clock spring

I have been looking for a clock spring for my Truck. The part number I believe is 14A664.
My VIN is 1FTZR15V5YTA70885. I have found one on the fordparts website for $107
and if I have to spend that much I guess I will but was hoping I could find one cheaper.
I am wondering if there is a cross reference number I can look for or a after market part.
Thanks in advance, Tom

The 14A664 is the base part number and only tells you the general type of part (clockspring) not the specific one that fits your truck. There usually four characters before and 2 or 3 or more after the base part number. Also, there are 2 different clocksprings depending on whether the truck is equipped with speed control or not.

I'm pretty sure any clockspring from a 1995-2001 Explorer (as long as they have the same looking airbag, not EB or limited) or 1998-2003 Ranger will work. Just get the right one whether cruise or not.

I put a 1998 Explorer Cruise in my 2000 with cruise.

I do have cruse control. I just don't want to buy one and take everything apart just to find it
is not the right one. Not only spending the money but also the time doing it. Thanks.
Are the numbers before the part number got to do with your VIN?

I believe that those four are a code related to the year and model that the part was originally designed for. There is no direct relationship to the characters in the VIN.

Did yours "break from turning", like it made a snapping sound? I pulled mine apart and noticed in the ribbon inside where it snapped that the wires were quite thick and seemed very sauder-able. Just throwing that out there. I wish I had carefully taken mine apart and saudered it then put it back in.

None the less, it's an easy reinstall. Just take care to remember how you took the old one out.

No, mine went bad totally technically right. First the airbag light came on, then I lost my
cruise control and now my horn works 1/2 the time. Each item went thru the 1/2 time
then total lose. Was hoping someone could tell me if this clock spring crosses to other
clock springs because I can find clock springs for bronco's, F150,250 etc for 1/2 the
price or where I can get one cheaper than the dealer.

As far as I can tell from all the different part variations I've come across the middle numbers are for specific parts. Like 14310 (I know thats not right but its something close to that) would be like a dash harness for different years and models. The last two is the revision AA being first AB second and so on. The first 4 I think are a combination of model and year.

Is the F87Z-14A664-CC and F87Z-14A664-BC the same part except for CC being a
later version of CC? Or, is the CC for Cruise Control and the BC is without cruise? I just
want to make sure I get the right part for the lowest cost. Thanks

-CC is w/ speed control
-BC is w/o speed control

I believe that I have the one you want somewhere in my stuff but I haven't been able to put my hands on it yet. How soon do you need to have it?

My inspection is in September so I will be getting one sometime in the month of Aug or
sooner if I find one at the right price. I really do not want to put in a used one, heck, could
be less than a year for a used one to go and I will have to do the whole job over again.
Thanks. The person that had a -BC told me he bought it for a Ranger without speed
control so this would agree with what you stated, -CC is for cruise and -BC is without.
Is there an -AA or ?. There are no -CC out there right now less then $100 so if I do not
find one alot cheaper, I guess I will just go to ford and pay the $104. Is there a generic
one the will fit? Thanks

The clockspring was removed when my truck had 7400 miles because I changed to an Explorer steering wheel that takes a different C/S. Not new but close.
