what should my first mod be?

right now i have about $1000 to spend on my truck and i dont no what to do first, so i'm asking what do you think i should do first?

sorry for double posting. this one was not supposed to have been posted.

I would say a K&N air filter and a nice cat back exhaust.I guess it all depends on what you use your truck for.

graniteguy 09-27-2005 04:18 PM

performance or appearance?

Redneckstone 09-27-2005 04:19 PM

Some of those fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror. :dunno:

Mr. Special 09-27-2005 04:24 PM

Well i would get rid of those POS stock tires myself.... then maybe get an intake/exhaust to use the rest of the 1000...

i was thinking of a brush gaurd first

zabeard 09-27-2005 04:30 PM

body lift, wheels, tires, grill, intake, chip/programmer, headers, audio, toneau...

the list goes on and on...

or keep saving and get the superlift. i would leave exhaust last on my list

HarryTasker 09-27-2005 04:34 PM

For 1 k I would go with

K&N intake should be around $250
Flowmaster 50 series should be around $250
BFG at ko 31 x10.5 Shoudl be able to get them installed and balanced for $500

Mr. Special 09-27-2005 04:34 PM

Do you do any wheeling? Or is it an on-road only truck?

EXACTLY! but u have to go w/ the 40 series

zabeard 09-27-2005 04:38 PM

to me k&n isnt worth the money you are paying for the name.
second flowmaster sucks.. its been proven many times.(hp wise)
and why 31s? he already has 245/75/16s. its practically the same size.

if ya want new tires get 265/75/16s or a 32 inch tire

ranger024x4 09-27-2005 04:38 PM

id get a Body lift and 33's

Redneckstone 09-27-2005 04:41 PM

oh wow! i can gain a whole 3 hp more getting a magnaflow, most people like sound over such a minimal HP gain. So watch when you say flomaster SUCKS.... and yea the 31s may be a bit small, so go with 32s 275/70R16

HarryTasker 09-27-2005 04:45 PM

Actually if you want to try and improve mileage swap the tires for a tonneau cover. Given gas prices doing what ever you can to increase the mpg is good.

ive seen dyno sheets where flowmaster made you lose hp and torque. same truck put a magnaflow on it and gained power from stock.

there is a dyno sheet around that show magnaflow exhaust and aem intake i think not sure and pulled 201 at the wheels.

im not gonna argue over this, choose what you want, all you have prolly ran is flowmaster.

ive had the stock exhaust, dual magnaflow, dual flowmaster, and now im using a SI/SO borla.

since ive had all of them i would rank it like this...

1. magnaflow
2. borla
3. flowmaster

HarryTasker 09-27-2005 05:06 PM

Hey now no fighting in front of the new guy!

zabeard 09-27-2005 05:12 PM

im not... im just giving an opinion...

Martiangod 09-27-2005 05:20 PM

being in 3rd doesnt mean i didnt like it.

Wowak 09-27-2005 06:41 PM

+/-5hp in a 3.sl0w doesn't mean anything, but a Flowmaster sure sounds great! Depends on your priorities, I guess.
