what the hell is wrong with people
First a crank sensor cost $142.95 for a sensor that looks like it just uses magnets to judge were the crank shaft is at by watching the pully spin, second they really have to put a sensor in that that completely inhibits the engine if it goes out i mean really, third you have to take the crank pully off to replace it which means you at least have to remove the fan if not the whole radiator to get an impact wrench in. damnit makes for a pretty ****ty day and wast of time finding the damn thing

This^ Meaning that while some people may be damn smart, they don't think logically and therefore should not have been engineers designing this like engines and such.

I think it goes exactly as Beard said. My girlfriend is studying mechanical engineering, having never worked on stuff...I make her work on things, or at least look at them and think about why it's a bad idea. Although a lot of her engineering friends just make an argument there is no other way to do it. I do believe they have a certain "**** on it it's this way" kind of mentality

Coming from the engineering point of view, sometimes there is a project deadline and a boss is on your a**. Going with a quick fix that works rather than redesigning something sometimes just has to be done. And engineers tend to listen to techs suggestion, otherwise they have to listen to a lot of complaints. Sometimes things just don't balance out well, but that's business right? Also, I work in the plastic industry, not automotive so there could be differences.

yeah i can't even get my fingers on the second screw i can barely contort my finers to feel what kind of head the screw is on the sensor, and when they desinges my twin plug year the only thing that could of been better would be if they could of put the second coil pack behind th first one like the newer 2.3's and yes it was deffinantly my morning rant threa lol, i'm goig to try and i dont' thing i have engough room to fit an impact wrench, i really hope they didn't put the blue locktight on the screws for this sensor like they did on my tps

Subject dear to my heart and I'm still pist off after 45 years:
In my youth I was an engineer and had to request that equipment be designed. This was done by "designers" who were definitely NOT engineers. Occasionally I wanted the design changed and got total resistance. Next the designers' supervisor would back him up. The next step would have been a battle involving department heads. Tempers got extremely heated. Time flys. Deadlines approach.
Common engineering sense thereby gets subverted by blind uneducated inexperienced stupidity. And who gets blamed?
