WTF is up with 'Check Gage' anyhow???

Is Ford illiterate? There's plenty of room on the light to stencil in 'Check Gauge'. Dumbies

Main Entry: 1gage
Pronunciation: 'gAj
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, pledge, reward, from Anglo-French -- more at WAGE
1 : a token of defiance; specifically : a glove or cap cast on the ground to be taken up by an opponent as a pledge of combat
2 : something deposited as a pledge of performance

"Gage" is an acceptable alternative spelling of gauge. I wouldn't have chosen it for use on an IP but it is correct.
