Why did you get a Ranger?

Simple question? I'll be picking mine up in the morning but will not be home till after 7 pm so you guys will have to wait for the pictures. The reason I chose the Ranger was because I am die hard Ford fan. I've owned mostly Fords (svts) and I dont really like the looks of the S10 and the other ''small trucks'' have gotten too big. I already own an F150 so no need for another full size truck.

I've always liked the looks of the 01+ Rangers in Edge trim, real sporty. Another reason is I was craving for a 4x4 since I've not owned one since 03 (which i rarely used). Now looking into taking small adventure trips and going to the beach more frequently.

Quick question guys, what's the stock gearing on the 4.0 4x4s? I cant find anything on google other than 4.10 optionals/standard on fx4???

Caught my eye sitting there all shiny and the price was right. Plus parents were buying so I couldn't complain lol. Glad I got it, great truck and made a lot of good friends from it.

cuz I couldn't afford an f150 lol. 4.0 4x4 should come with either 3.73 or 4.10 gears

my first vehicle was an 86 ranger my father gave when i was 16 and i loved that truck so much that all ive owned for the last 10 years is rangers. ive owned 4 rangers, 86, 93, 96 and 2001 and they all have treated be well, they have towed anything ive asked them to, go nearly anywhere i want to go with them and cost little to maintain if cared for. the only one to ever leave me stranded was my 86 but that was becuase i blew the transmission in the middle of a mud hole. i just uprgraded to a fullsize this fall because i needed a larger cab for when we have kids but i still own one ranger, i just cant let it go. ill always have a soft spot for the ranger, ive made alot of memories in mine. enjoy your new truck, IMO you made a good choice with a ranger, but im a little biased. ha ha

my first vehicle (6 yrs ago) was an 1988 s15... same thing as an s10. i've owned a few vehicles since then. but my dad and i made a 1 day trip to chilliwack BC) its a 3.5hr drive one way.. to buy me a truck.. i liked the looks of the ranger, i wasnt picky didnt care if 2wd or 4wd, i had cash in hand. didnt find anything i liked so we drove home.. dad works for a boat company and got the trip paid for driving an 2005 F350 1 ton dually diesel... then a couple days later my grandpa found me a 93 ranger, 4.0L 4x4 5 speed... so i took the bus down there to at least take a look at the truck, ended up buying it and it driving it home that day...

Got it for cheap and it had a new engine, clutch, and many other things. Insurance was cheap, and my Mustang sucks in snow.

Wanted a cheap tough 4x4, loved it as my first truck, wish I would have gotten a fullsize the second time around though.

i knew i could afford it. it was all i needed in a truck and i'd looked at a couple for the last 8-9 years. my bronk was great but just too much sometimes. after i got rid of it, i vowed that i'd get another ford truck. it took me 8 years, but i did it.
i'm with beard. i ordered it the way i wanted it.

it was the cheapest "bang for the buck" truck i could find. all the options power everything for a fraction of the cost of its competitors. i could find a similar colorado/canyon but it had the 4 cyl. and the toyota was in my price range if it was a 2wd prerunner. no 4wds in my price range. and my truck was nearly new. had 7k miles on it.

My first vehicle was a 1990 Ranger that I drove for many years and invested over 10K in. I was on the hunt for a new Ranger when I happened to stumble across the Ranger I have now. It had just come in and still had the plastic sheeting on it when I bought it.

I got a Ranger since it was the right size and price for what I needed.
I was looking for a little 4x4 for pulling my boat and launching in and out of the water.
Great little truck.

My dad bought mine well I was in school one day as a surprise cuz I had recently sold my grand prix. I love my ranger to death. I will forever own this little truck. And this was my 2ed car. But I only owned my grand prix for 2 weeks and then I sold it. And I will never regret that decision.

grand am got t-boned and i needed a vehicle for work.....

while driving with my dad one day...saw a guy loading a junker (1st gen) onto a trailer

stopped and asked him what was wrong with it to see if it was worth it....he showed me $450 worth of receipts for new brakes and exhaust, only to have a piston explode and he was taking it to the j-yard for scrap

i gave him $450 cash about 3 days later and drove it home.....barely

had a little extra cash saved up and built a cheap high compression motor.
found a 2.0 block....2.3 hydraulic roller mustang head....cam....port-polish....trimmed the head about .030"......it was ****

btw...straight pipes with an aggressive cam, spit flames when you rev above 5k

Ricers at high school hated me cause my little ranger was louder and faster off the line than their POS jap turds....

it made me happy....and the rest is history

after Stig 1.0 got was destroyed i found a guy who's son just got back from fighting overseas and bought a Toyota.....and didn't need his little ranger any more.
Stig 2.0 came home with me

I need to parallel park at work so I was looking for a smaller truck. Looked at used than new and went new. I could have gotten an F-150 but I could get more goodies on a Ranger for the same price as a stripped down F-150. I was also thinking the Ranger would be shorter and easier to parallel park. Little did I know or think about that the 4-door Ranger is about as long as a reg cab F-150. Gas mileage was another thing but again the F-150 gets real close to the 4.0 gas mileage.

I am not upset one bit about getting the Ranger. And it does all I need a truck to do.

I have sense bought a Focus for work and that easily fixed any parallel parking issues but that's another story.

Needed something with better mileage. My ride at the time was a '69 F100 and got about 8 mpg. My school is about an hour and a half away from my house so that wasnt gonna work.

I needed a smaller truck for my new job and started out with a '94 2wd xl and liked it so when that one got too "used" i bought a 2002 4.0 2wd edge and then realised that 4 wheeling was a new hobby of mine and wanted to have a vehicle that can get me into our tight camping spots sooo.. fx4 level 2 it was.

what svt's have you had?
