personally i have dealt with step sides before and he must have punched a part with a crack in it.. because they are quite strong, def strong enough to take a hand punching it... also depends where he punched it....

but just the shear fact your friend did this shows his mental capability... personally i hate stupid people....

well first of all i never said my friend did it. that must be your selective reading. i said it was some guy. also, please try and stay away from degressing away from the topic of trucks so no one gets offended here. seems like your trying kinda hard.

you dont need that little step you can get from the window or open door to a regular bed just fine..

reason step sides are gone is cost cutting what Ford is known for....its not cheap to make fiberglass bed sides when they can stamp out steel panels faster

the flareside beds have been around since the pickup truck's inception (i.e. steel box with fiberglass fenders bolted to it), there still around because some people just can't let it go, now there pretty much just for style and they learned to stick a "step" on it

actually.......name me one truck, besides a ranger, that's got fiber fenders on the rear. yea.

A true stepside......not a half *** ranger stepside......a true stepside consists of at least 12 pieces.....2 sides, 1 front, tailgate, 2 fenders, 2steps, 4 stake pockets, and about 4 crossmemebers, dont forget oak and stainless strips for the floor. That's a real stepside bed....BTW...ALL STEEL. All the newer stepsides are half *** stepsides.

A real stepside bed:

I call BS. My old truck had a stepside and the bed was stout. I hit the back corner of mine on a light pole and it didn't crack or anything. Unless "the drunk guy" was a martial arts expert then I don't believe that for a second.

I think they look better, and I like how i don't have big wheel wells in my bed, eventhough it is smaller...

i love the look of a stepside but you dont have as much space, plus i too like a cap and a stepside cap just doesnt look as good as the styleside box with a cap.

I personally think regular bed rangers look better. Stepsides make the truck look smaller.

I just don't like stepsides, No real reason. I wouldn't buy a stepside truck (ranger). Now if we are talking a 1950ish Studebaker, the I'd whistle a different tune:

I don't mind a step side bed, but I don't like caps on them and I don't like them for function. Our Ranger beds are small as is, and a step side is even smaller.

The step side works well on my set up, you can't climb on a standard bed ranger , no bed steps .
