Icon5 Will a 98 Mazda B4000 trans fit in my 2002 fx4 ranger?

Recently my second gear has decided to **** the bed. Might have something to do with slamming gears through the deep snow all winter lol. But I'm looking to swap the transmission and found a 1998 B4000 somebody is parting out. How interchangable would the transmission be on to my 2002 ranger? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum

No, whether its manual or automatic, no it won't work

There are 2WD transmissions and 4x4 transmissions, they are not interchangeable, no conversion possible

Transmissions also must match engine bolt pattern, the bellhousing pattern, after 1992 no Ranger, or B-series, engines shared the same bellhousing bolt pattern
so a 4.0l trans won't fit a 3.0l engine and visa versa

And then the final issue, in 2001 and up Ford added an OSS speed sensor to all Ranger/B-series transmissions, manual or auto
Your 2002 Ranger needs that OSS sensor, so you can only use a 2001-2011 4x4 transmission from a 4.0l Ranger or B4000, assuming your 2002 is a 4.0l
This is why the NO right upfront without knowing if you have a manual or automatic, or a 4.0l engine, or if B4000 is a 4x4, all of which would matter

Your 2002 replacement trans must match 4x4, engine size, and have OSS sensor
