window tint
ok just got some 5% at autozone. and didnt feel like buying the application kit. it says use application spray or make your own with like a tablespoon of soap and 1 gallon of water (slippery liquid) so any tips before i start? or what to use as application spray. im gunna go clean the windows good now the make up the spray. anyone done this?
clean the windows well. Not just with windex, buy the stuff that comes in a spray can.
get a good film of soap and water on the window (from a spray bottle), cut the shape of the window from the outside with a little bit of excess, after that peel the backing off as you put it on the window (being careful that it doesnt fold over). Tuck/cut the excess. Then squeagee out the excess solution and do final trimming. If the windows roll down, dont move them for at least a week, longer if it is cooler where you are.
windows that dont roll down are easy, windows that do are a little more difficult. If you can remove your window it makes tinting WAY easier.

Don't use anything with ammonia to clean the windows. I scrap the entire window with a fresh razor as well to help get everything off. You can use a plastic bondo or plaster knife to help flatten out the tint, just something bendy.
Longevity likely has to do with the tint. Even if applied correctly, autozone tint isnt going to last like lumar or 3M.
If you like tint like some of my friends like tint, you'll be way better off learning how to do it it on your own. Triple 5 on the back, double on the sides, and 5% windsheild...the vehicle is only driven on sunny Florida days and where there are good streetlights.

He still isnt done, either. The flat plastic trim is going to be sanded, wet sanded, and painted to match the rest of the car and he is going to have the whole car repainted because BMW cheaps out on paint and Minis have notorious orange peel. It may end up 100% murdered.
Im saying its pointless to waste your money if you dont know what your doing...
If youve done it before, and know what your doing, go for it... If its your first time you much better off spending the 200$ and getting the whole thing done...
Best 250$ ive ever spent in my life...
Pretty pointless to only be able to drive your car when its light out also... My .02
