Wiper issue

I’m new here so I don’t know what’s the best category for this but anyway I have a 91 ranger with wiper issues. So they turn on just fine but I can only get them to turn off if I turn the key to off position at the right time! I don’t know what this means since they are pretty functional otherwise. Any thoughts? I’m sure this is very common...

I haven't had this issue with my ranger but it sounds like a relay issue. Sounds like the coil in the Relay is sticking, and it is only release when you remove power from the whole system. I would try locating the relay and checking it with a meter, or swap it with another one if there is one in the truck for another component that uses the same relay, before just replacing it.

yes I had thought about relays. Unlike other trucks I’ve worked on I can seem to locate the relays in this truck. Some people have said they’re located inside the dash (hope not lol). But I guess I’ll keep looking for it.

Passenger side wiper stopped working

  1. Hello I have a 2000 Ford Ranger and a week ago my passenger side wiper quit working. I noticed that it only has one motor for both wipers and the drivers side wiper is working fine so I was wondering how I can get into the back of the passenger side wiper so that I can hook it back up to the motor because it seems that I became loose from the wipers motor. When I turn the wipers on the driver side works fine and I can hear like something trying to spin on the passenger side wiper so it appears that it some how came loose. Can anyone help me fix this problem. Thank you in advance for your help and time.

There is an access plate in the upper center of the firewall, in engine bay, it is held in place by three 5.5mm bolts, remove this plate and you will see the wiper arm end and the drive arm from the wiper motor

Firewall with access plate removed seen here: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/QpuWDepEKs4/maxresdefault.jpg

Hi all I have a 1989 Ranger XLT 4X4 2.9 and My Drivers side wiper stopped working I took the arm off and am able to spin freely with my fingers and can hear the arm inside move so I am assuming the the rod is still connected to the round part where the blade arm attaches so that must mean that the rod came off of the motor end does anyone have pictures of what this looks like and how it attaches???
Thank you
Paul
