I just won an Xcalibrator on eBay.

I'd like to know what tune in 87 or 89 octane you liked the best. I am asking because money is tight and I can only afford 1 tune.

 

Who is doing the tuning for you?

89 performance if you can go any higher I would recommend it. I have used 93 performance 95% of the time and its worth it, you may not have have that high of octane in your area though.

 

I have used 89 since i got it, and now with gas so expencive, im glad i didnt go up to 92 / 93 i forget what i had it set at....But i would like to set it up there to see what its like, or when the track opens...

I am using the 91 octane performance program on my truck. The get up and go is much healthier and the shifts are awesomely fast compared to what it used to be.

If you do alot of offroading or towing/hauling you might want to opt for a medium fuel grade "torque" program.

 

Performance vs. Torque vs. Mileage. RPM Ranges for each would be what?

 

I'd hit up, at least in my area, i'd hit up 87perf, 92perf, and 92 torque. (we ain't got to stinkin 93)

Honestly, it's been a LONG time since I found out someone with a manny tranny w/ a tuner....been a while. Pease let us know how it turns out. I think this'll be a tax-present to the good ole danger ranger.

 

I have a manual transmission with a tuner. I like to run the 87 performance program because it still has improved performance over stock and also has some improvement in gas mileage. If I want more power I switch to the 91 torque program. Performance is definitely enhanced but I don't get enough improvement in performance to justify the higher cost of premium gas.

I was not that impressed with the 91 performance program. It did give me the best gas mileage of all the programs but did not give me the best performance at the rpms I like to run. I think the 91 performance program is good if you like to run to red-line or over but with my typical driving, it does not suit me. I am not out there drag racing at high revs all the time.

I have a manual 4.0 as well, and I prefer the 89 torque program. That one seems to have yeilded the best results with power and gas mileage.

Basically if you're looking for a bit of power for starting off or just for normal shifting, the 89 Torque does a good job. If you are looking for more power in the higher range after 3500 RPM, the 89 Performance will take care of that. The only problem with that is you will not get as much power in the RPMs below.
